Joe KalkaREALTOR ®
Joe Kalka arrived in Texas during the worst kind of ice storm in December 1978 after earning a degree in Printing Management & Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology. The apartment locators who helped him find an apartment that cold December weekend must have thought he was misguided. His rent criterion was a six month lease because he was going to buy a house (Joe thought everyone in Texas bought a house as soon as they could). He was 21 years old, had $340.00, a 71 Plymouth Fury III, two cats and a job. Well the landlord let him slide on the security deposit so he could eat, and although it took a little longer than six months, Joe closed on a nice 2/1 Lakewood home in February of 1980. You see, having a house and a home was always a priority.
Joe came with the intentions to make his mark in the commercial printing business & he did. The bulk of his career was with Horticultural Printers in Mesquite Texas as Vice President of Sales & Marketing. That was great fun printing signs for 7-Eleven’s Slurpee machines, point of sale material for JCPenney Company, promotional material for American Heart Association, Big 12 Tyvek jackets for Phillips 66, Dream Team Tyvek jackets for Kellogs, builder catalogs for Dal-Tile, and software manuals for Apple Computer to name a few. The move from print to full time real estate has been a splendid, positive transition.
Joe has always lived within biking distance of White Rock Lake and knows the ins & outs of East Dallas. When he is not finding a great home for a buyer or locating a buyer for one of his listings, you can find Joe playing golf at Tenison Park, traveling to Beaver’s Bend to fly fish, poking around Half Price Books looking for classic music & literature, eating chicken flautas with green sauce at Matt’s Rancho Martinez or in his great kitchen trying out a new recipe. Joe loves sports and has been a Mavericks season ticket holder for 26 years. On the other hand after growing up in Pittsburgh, he is a die hard Steeler fan.
Kalka loves the movement & rhythm that the real estate market resonates. He is excited to be with Keller Williams Dallas City Center. Joe’s goal is to be the most professional & knowledgeable agent in East Dallas. His client commitment is to facilitate buying or selling their house at the right price, in the shortest time frame possible, and with the least amount of hassle. Joe is a Historic House Specialist (with advanced designation), Open House Specialist, and has advanced training in MLS listings. On a practical level, he previews all new listings on Wednesday MLS tours in his market area, returns emails & phone calls promptly, arrives for appointments prepared and on time and relentlessly (albeit politely) follows up with open house visitors, sign calls & internet inquiries. Joe would be privileged to consult with you when you need to sell, buy, or lease real estate.
