Briarwood
The Briarwood neighborhood is the area north of Lover's Lane, West of Inwood Road and bounded on both the west and north by Elsby. The first wave of development came in the 1940's in anticipation of the return of World War II Veterans. The area was once pastureland for a dairy farm and soon became a vibrant community of charming cottages that have become a hot commodity in Dallas. Most streets in Briarwood are comprised of wood, brick, and stone cottages framed by fifty year old trees - many with front porches. A real sense of neighborhood exists and it is rare to drive through Briarwood without seeing neighbors walking their dogs and young children or catching up with their neighbors. In the past five years, this neighborhood has experienced a continued revitalization that has lead to an increase in property values. The new construction in conjunction with this revitalization has been well received. With the neighborhood’s regeneration come a diverse group of individuals and families with a long term commitment to marinating the history and beauty of Briarwood.
The Inwood Village is a hot spot for many of the Briarwood residents along with the precious shops and restaurants along Lovers Lane. With Celebration restaurant within walking distance and Café Express and Starbucks not much further down the road, it is not uncommon to see Briarwood residents out with their strollers before sunset walking to dinner. The Inwood Village is also home to great ice cream, shopping and the Inwood Theater.
