Cedar Hill

The city of Cedar Hill, just south of Downtown Dallas, is often referred to as the “hill country of Dallas” due to the native eastern red cedar trees and the rolling hills.  In the mid-1800s, Cedar Hill served as the temporary county seat for Dallas County.

Cedar Hill’s recreation is fueled mostly by Joe Pool Lake and many parks surrounding the lake.  Fishing, boating, hiking, and camping are just a few activities that can be enjoyed by Cedar Hill residents and visitors alike.  Uptown Village at Cedar Hill, an open-air regional shopping mall, recently opened in Spring 2008.  Uptown Village offers shopping, dining, and entertainment for the entire family.

Most of Cedar Hill is served by Cedar Hill Independent School District with small portions being served by Duncanville and Midlothian Independent School Districts.
