Lakewood, northeast of downtown Dallas, is known for its tree-lined streets, rolling
terrain and architectural diversity. The neighborhood is bounded by Gaston Avenue to the
south, Abrams to the west, Mockingbird Lane to the north, and Williamson Road and White
Rock Lake to the east. Home shoppers will find housing styles including Mediterranean,
Spanish eclectic, Tudor, prairies, ’40s cottages, ’50s contemporaries and traditional
homes built in the 1980s and 1990s. Residents are close to the jogging and bike trails
surrounding White Rock Lake.
Lakewood is also home to Lakewood Country Club. Built in 1912, Lakewood Country Club’s
three-story clubhouse originally overlooked a woodland that rolled and tumbled pleasantly
over this fast growing East Dallas neighborhood. The Club’s founding fathers knew that
the land at the corner of Gaston and Abrams would be a perfect spot for Dallas’
second 18-hole golf course. Today at this same corner, in addition to the golf course,
residents will find wonderful restaurants, shops, the Lakewood Theatre, bars, and a brand
new Whole Foods Market. Lakewood is an absolutely lovely place to live!
