Lower Greenville

Lower Greenville has been a destination neighborhood in Dallas for almost 100 years. The area was originally connected to downtown by a trolley line which ran up Ross Avenue and down Matilda. Up and down Greenville Avenue from Mockingbird to Ross, you will find clusters of neighborhood retail including everything from clothing shops to restaurants to neighborhood pubs. The area is comprised of several different neighborhoods: Lower Greenville, Glencoe Park, Greenland Hills, Vickery Place and Lakewood Heights. Although these areas have separate neighborhood associations, they work together due to their shared goals and lifestyle.

Most of the homes in the area were built between 1920 and 1945, although in the last decade there has been a resurgence of high end new construction in the area. The original homes tended to be of the period "Arts and Crafts" styles: Tudor, Prairie and Craftsman. The creation of four Conservation Districts in the area has helped preserve those styles and new construction must replicate it in much of the area.

If this area had a personality, it would be the life of the party! Every year 80,000 plus partiers come to the area for St. Patrick's Day making it the second largest St. Pat's celebration in the country. Neighbors in the area are very social and seeing gathering on the front porch is the norm on virtually any night of the week.
