L Streets
Established in 1954, the L Streets are in close proximity to White Rock Lake (2miles), the Dallas Arboretum (4miles), and North Park Mall (5miles). Being located just north of Northwest Highway (Loop 12), the L Streets offer easy access to both Interstate 635 and 75 Central Expressway. The L Streets neighborhood is comprised of 463 homes located within the boundries of McCree Rd., Plano Rd., Ferndale and Northwest Hwy.
It is apparent that the owners in this wonderful neighborhood take great pride in their homes and yards. It is a rare occasion to see overgrown grass or junk in the front of someone’s home! As many of the original owners of the properties still live in the neighborhood, and many have moved on, a lot of young families are moving in and bringing life back to this 1950s neighborhood. There is a true small town feel as you drive through the streets on a Saturday afternoon and see empty nesters out for walk, young mom’s pushing strollers, elementary kids playing football across three yards and cyclists and joggers out enjoying the sunshine. You are sure to get a few friendly waves while passing through.
The L Streets Neighborhood Association was established to bring the community together with a common bond of keeping the neighborhood vibrant and safe. They have a Crime Watch, Volunteers in Patrol program, Yard of the Month program, events throughout the year, block captains and a welcoming committee.
Lake Highlands Elementary is the elementary school in the heart of the neighborhood. It is Richardson ISD and is for grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. Many parents also take advantage of the wonderful child development programs in the area for their younger children and the local private schools for children of any age.
The residents are also anticipating the arrival of the Lake Highlands Town Center as the premier retail and restaurant hot spot in the area.
