State Thomas

The State Thomas Historic District highlights the heart of Uptown.  These few blocks contain the most intact collection of historic residential structures of the late 1880’s Victorian period remaining in Dallas. It is the last remnant of a once large, fashionable upper middle class community. These beautiful one to two story homes are mainly frame houses in Italiante Queen Anne and Vernacular styles. In 1986, State Thomas began its transformation into one of the city’s first new urbanist regions.  With the design of traditional neighborhoods and the inclusion of a metropolitan atmosphere (housing, eateries, jobs all within walking distance), these urban living neighborhoods like State Thomas are great places to call home for young professionals and empty-nesters alike.

The area is a mix use of residential and commercial with small business settled in the area housing. This quaint area is located in between the streets of Fairmont, Boll, Hybernia and Colby with State, Thomas and Routh running through these borders. The streets surrounding the area are filled with condo, townhome, and apartment living while featuring quaint and trendy restaurants, bars and retail shopping all within walking distance.
