White Rock Hills

The White Rock Hills area of Dallas is located approximately 1.6 miles southeast of White Rock Lake. The area is bordered by Ferguson Road, White Rock Creek, I-30 and points just east of Buckner Blvd. Forest Hills, located directly southeast of White Rock Lake, is considered (technically) part of the area as well, but is better known separately as “Forest Hills” (For more information on Forest Hills, please see the information on neighborhoods link labeled “Forest Hills.”) This information pertains to the area just south of Ferguson Road.

Many of the area homes were constructed of brick and were built between 1950 – 1968 and include such features as pier and beam foundation, wood floors, crown molding, lots of trees, some creek lots, and are still very affordable! Many residents are aging and have lived in the area for a very long time. Some younger buyers are discovering the area and buying homes because of:

The Ferguson Road Initiative Program (FRI) was launched in 1998 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the complete restoration of the White Rock Hills community. Since its inception, the FRI has accomplished many achievements including:

61% reduction of violent crimes
25% reduction of overall crime
A growth of five to twenty neighborhoods working collectively to improve quality of life
Improved TAKS scores at neighborhood public schools
Facilitated $40 million dollars of investment along the Ferguson Road corridor for retail development
Advocated and received $30 million in Bond Program monies (White Rock Hills Recreation Center is projected to be built near Ferguson and Highland intersection; the White Rock Hills Library is also another project being advocated by the FRI
Increased property values by 30%
